The way that the trailer opens up, we see Thor in a predicament whenever you’re dangling by a chain over a volcanic pit, you know you’re going to have a shitty day. The trailer opens up with Thor breaking the fourth wall talking directly to the camera, to the audience, and I like that. And my guess is, this movie is going to open up the exact same way that this trailer does where Thor’s talking to the camera and it could possibly be similar to the way that the Deadpool movie played out.
The movie opens up with a character in one situation and through the course of flashbacks throughout the movie. It builds up to that one situation that he’s stuck in. And if that’s the case, I always thought that was a really cool way of telling the narrative of a story in a movie. We see Thor’s hammer at the character of Ella the goddess of death played by Cate Blanchett and she just catches that shit and crushes it and the look on Thor’s face is that same look you get when you know you just fucked up.
As far as the tone and vibe goes, it definitely has a very heavy-handed Guardians Of The Galaxy vibe because everything from the classic rock music all the way to the 1980s logo over the movie, it just feels like a another version of Guardians Of The Galaxy. I think that really fun retro vibe is exactly what the new Thor movie needed.
